A confident, determined look will produce the proper field attitude. You have to want to be the best. Work for it!!!

The most important step is the first step:

1. It determines the step size.

2. It determines the direction you are headed.

The key to a successful transition between point A and B is a consistent size of step. STAND TALL - BE TALL!!!

At the position of attention, pull yourself up as tall as you can (think 10 feet tall). Envision a string pulling at the chest and through the top of the head. Think light. Center your weight forward, not back on the heels. Chin up. There is a 10° angle on horns when in playing position. This is your center; always center from this point.

FIRST STEP - Lock knees on 4. (CHECK AND) step onto the back of the heel flexing the foot as much as possible. Subdivide each step, based on a consistent size of step (22.5" - 8x5). Upper body doesn't move.

"8 AND" - Step 7 is a normal step. Take step 8 and roll through to "8 AND" leaving the left foot straight up and down on the tip of the toe. Snap closed on 1.

When moving, the feet will not cross. Think as a cross-country skier, not a rope walker. Keep hips square and butts tucked. Always maintain balance!

BACKWARDS MARCH - Count 8, right foot comes to a touch with the toe pointed. Count 1 is a pull up, feet will not move. Count 2, pull back with right, stay up on toes. Keep legs straight, keep chest up and butt tucked. Remain Tall!!!

When going back to a forward march, settle down on 1 (lift as you go down to remain tall). Flex roll on 2, etc… this is not a rock step!!!

BUS 1 RULES

The Bus 1 Rules stem from an "incident" on the way home from marching districts. Many had to suffer due to a few delinquents, who shall remain nameless. Thus, the Bus 1 officers who were reprimanded retaliated in the only way they knew how: to make up a set of rules mocking the system! The first set of rules is ACTUAL school bus rules (thanks to that really nice bus driver guy, and Siobhan and Michelle's copying abilities), and the rest we will accredit to Joelle Julich and various others. If they sound familiar, you probably heard us shouting them from the stands during our third quarter delinquents party. Enjoy. J

1. Stand at least five feet from the road when awaitng a bus.

2. Keep in your seat at all times while the bus is moving.
